Just 6 Sleeps until we start our world trip. Wow, crazy, started to think this day would never come. We have been saving and preparing for over 2 years.
The biggest thing to sort out today is how to take things out of my pack to reduce the weight. How do you know what not to take when you are going for a year?
The best rule of thumb is pack what you think you need, and then bring only half of that. The biggest problem with packing is what clothes do you need for a year long trip around the world. You probably just need one jacket (for weather/mountain climbing), 3 - 4 days of clothes, a pair of running of shoes, and a bathing suit. Whatever you are missing probably can be bought very cheaply overseas, anyway. Otherwise, the basic items you really do need for travel are your passport, a laptop, a smartphone, a camera, and your wallet (money/credit cards).
